Rockstar to give away GTA 6's Leonida map for free

On November 19, launch day, Rockstar will add the Leonida map and a cover art poster to its official site. Both are free digital downloads meant to be printed at home, according to IGN.

Instant Gaming News, the news site of the Instant Gaming store, reports the same: a free map and poster from the game's website starting November 19. Rockstar hasn't said what file format or resolution to expect, so it's unclear how large you can print it.

Shortly after launch, the Rockstar Store will sell a physical, double-sided version of the poster. It costs 0.99 dollars on its own and comes free with any purchase from the store, IGN says.

For perspective, the poster costs 0.99 dollars, against 84.99 dollars for the limited edition GTA 6 DualSense and 399.99 dollars for The Goodtime State collector's box. Rockstar hasn't given a ship date, only that it will come shortly after launch.

Preloading begins on Tuesday, November 10, ahead of the November 12 date Rockstar had announced for the preload. On PS5 it starts at midnight local time in each timezone. On Xbox Series X|S it starts at 12am GMT, which is London time. In the US that lands on November 9, at 7pm ET, IGN reports.

The preload file weighs up to 212 GB, depending on your device. Rockstar is pushing players to clear space early.

If your console storage is tight, you may have to delete a game or two before November 10.

For players, the practical part is that you don't need to buy anything to get the map. Download it on November 19, print it, and start placing Vice City and the Leonida Keys on paper.

If you'd rather have the double-sided version, it's 0.99 dollars or free with any Rockstar Store order. It's a free extra if you were already planning a purchase there.

Rockstar hasn't shown the map's design yet, or said which areas and how much detail it will include. Our rundown of what we know about GTA 6 covers the rest if you want to catch up before the preload.

Still unconfirmed: when the physical poster starts shipping. Rockstar says shortly after launch and gives no date. We also have yet to see how the map looks, which will be answered on November 19, when the file lands on the official site. If you want the poster free, time your Rockstar Store order for around then.
