How do you build a map of a game that hasn’t been released yet?

With the patience of a watchmaker. Since March 2025, the community at map.stateofleonida.net has been comparing every frame of the two trailers, every official screenshot, and every leak, and triangulating positions: if a tower appears behind a gas station in two different shots, their intersection pinpoints both on the map. As reported by Notebookcheck (June 29, 2026), the pre-order launch on June 25 brought a batch of new images to the official websites that has accelerated the project—including the hidden clips on Rockstar’s website, which also provide geographical details.

What’s new in version 13?

• Over 1,600 interactive markers: roads, bridges, beaches, businesses, and points of interest.
• Coverage of the known regions of Leonida: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga, Port Gellhorn, and Ambrosia.
• A geolocation minigame to test how well you know the state before setting foot there.

How close will it be to the actual in-game map?

Surprisingly close, if history repeats itself: the same community-driven effort nailed the GTA V map months before its 2013 release. The areas Rockstar hasn’t shown are missing—the deep interior of the state and a large part of the Grassrivers Everglades— and that’s where every new trailer or screenshot expands the map through triangulation. The total size still has no official figure (estimates suggest it’s 2–3 times the size of GTA V).
