Rockstar describes them as “the gateway to paradise,” with “beautiful and dangerous” waters. This is where Jason Duval, one of the main characters, lives at the beginning of the story.

Trailer 2 confirmed the official name “Leonida Keys” and revealed that Jason Duval, one of the two protagonists, lives here at the beginning. His home is a house on stilts in Key Lento, owned by a character named Brian Heder.
Which islands have been confirmed?
Key Lento is the main island and the only one confirmed by name, clearly inspired by Key Largo. Businesses such as Stock 305, Electric Fang Tattoo, One-Eyed Willie’s, and The Rusty Anchor are identified there. The rest of the archipelago appears on the community map, but Rockstar has not released any additional island names.

According to Trailer 2, Jason Duval lives in the Leonida Keys at the beginning, so it's likely that the story will start there before branching out. It hasn't been confirmed whether Lucia also starts out in the Keys.
