GTA 6 preload starts November 12 ahead of launch

The files download that day, but the game stays locked until midnight on release. The boxed edition goes on sale the same day with a download code inside and no disc, so it activates like any digital pre-order.

The number going around for PS5 is 210 GB, tracked by the PlayStation Game Size account and picked up by outlets such as Generación Xbox. Rockstar has not published a final size.

There is no figure for Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S either, so the PS5 number works as a reference, not a fixed requirement.

Regional store listings point to an unlock at midnight on November 19 in each territory, as Generación Xbox reports. If Microsoft keeps that system, New Zealand starts twelve hours earlier: 00:00 on the 19th there is 12:00 on Wednesday the 18th in Spanish time.

You change it in Settings, System, Language and location, and the console asks for a restart. If the game refuses to boot, you switch back to your own region and wait for the local unlock.

It stays a possibility rather than a confirmed plan, because it depends on how Microsoft applies the unlock per region.

It depends on your connection and on how the download servers behave. The estimates outlets publish, as Revista Mercado lays out, are theoretical: they assume a steady speed and leave out day-one updates.

On a slow or shared line, the week of margin is the whole point: starting on the 12th is not the same as starting on the night of the 19th.

Before that date, check that the pre-order sits on the account you will play with, that the console is up to date, and that you have 210 GB of free space.

If your console is tight on storage, delete games before November 12. With 210 GB as the reference, the download will not fit without clearing room, and on Xbox Series S the margin is shorter.

The file holds the full map of Leonida, the story of Jason and Lucia and the vehicles Rockstar has shown so far, even if the exact size is still open.

Rockstar's last two launches were GTA V on September 17, 2013 and Red Dead Redemption 2 on October 26, 2018. GTA VI: The Album lands on November 19 with 34 tracks, according to Rockstar.

Rockstar has not given the size for Xbox Series X or Series S, and has not said whether the preload will ask for the same space on both. The next dated stop is November 9, when Take-Two Interactive reports its fiscal second-quarter results.

Until then, the useful move is to free the space and check that the pre-order is tied to your account.
