GTA 6 previews six radio stations and adds podcasts
Rockstar has teased six Leonida radio stations and confirmed on-demand podcasts, both playable on foot. The full soundtrack details are still to come.
Rockstar has shown a first look at six GTA 6 radio stations and confirmed the game will include on-demand podcasts, a first for the series. Both radio and podcasts can be played on foot, not only behind the wheel.
The news comes from Music Ally and MultiAnime, both citing the new music section of the official site. It is one more drip from Rockstar a few weeks before the 19 November launch, as reported by Music Ally.
GTA 6 radio: what Leonida will sound like
These are the stations revealed so far, as described by the two outlets:
- Cocoteo FM: modern Latin music, from bachata and merengue to dembow and reggaeton, hosted by El Martillo and La Gata. Music Ally mentions tracks by Bad Bunny and by Axel Rulay with Farruko and El Alfa.
- Back Country Radio: renegade country with MW and Delta Dawne on the mic, plus Mud Dog Mike reporting on swamp weather around Grassrivers. A Loretta Lynn classic is among the songs.
- AfroBank FM: African music with Burna and Palmsy, mixing classics, new discoveries and modern sounds such as amapiano and 3-Step.
- The Chamber 106.6: metal from the 80s onwards, with DJ Kerry and DJ Tom. Music Ally cites Black Sabbath and Pantera.
- Flash FM: Vice City's pop institution, with Robyn and Alex.
- Regional rap and hip-hop classics: with Trick and Trina. Music Ally calls it Dirty South Classics and cites David Banner with Lil' Flip.
Podcasts and radio on foot
The curious addition is on-demand podcasts that players pick themselves. According to Rockstar, radio and podcasts will play in vehicles and while walking, through earphones and headphones connected to the character's phone. Music Ally says they are meant for Jason and Lucia, whom you can find in our characters section.
That matters because the series' radio has always died the moment you left the car. Now a stroll around the map of Leonida gets its own soundtrack without stealing a vehicle first.
Where the sources disagree
Two differences are worth flagging:
- The rap station: MultiAnime says the preview does not reveal its name, while Music Ally calls it Dirty South Classics. We treat the name as coming from a single outlet.
- Back Country Radio hosts: MultiAnime only gives the names MW and Delta Dawne. Music Ally claims they are played by Lana Del Rey and Morgan Wallen, adding that the latter also appears on the game's album. Rockstar does not confirm this in the material we have, so it remains unverified by a second source.
What we still don't know
Rockstar has only shown the voices and styles of each station. The full track list and how the interactive soundtrack works will come later, according to the company. We also don't know which podcasts will be included, how many there are, or whether any of this audio will be available outside the game. We'll keep listening.
