GTA 6 on PC reportedly lands in early 2027, sources say
GamesBeat says four sources point to a GTA 6 PC launch between January and March 2027. Rockstar has not confirmed it; reliability is medium.
GamesBeat reports, citing four industry sources, that the PC version of GTA 6 would launch between January and March 2027. It is an unconfirmed leak: Rockstar has said nothing official about a PC port.
What the report says about GTA 6 on PC
The story starts at GamesBeat, which talks to four people familiar with Rockstar Games' plans. All of them reportedly agree on the same window: the first quarter of 2027. It has since been picked up by CNET, SVG and XboxManiac, none of which add original reporting on the date. They all repeat GamesBeat.
Leak reliability: medium. Several anonymous sources line up, but nobody is on the record, no documents have been shown, and Rockstar has not answered press requests for comment. Until the company speaks, this is a well-accompanied rumour, not an announcement.
A big break from the usual pattern
The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S version is still set for November 19, 2026. If the report is right, PC players would wait roughly two to four months after the console launch.
That contrasts sharply with the studio's history, although outlets disagree on the exact numbers. GTA V took close to two years to reach PC according to CNET and SVG, and 19 months according to XboxManiac. Red Dead Redemption 2 took a little over a year according to CNET and 14 months according to XboxManiac. By either count, the rumoured gap would be a fraction of the old one.
Why Rockstar might have changed pace
No source explains the reasoning. Everything below is speculation from the press, not fact:
- Take-Two. CEO Strauss Zelnick told shareholders that PC is becoming more important to the company. He was not talking about GTA 6 specifically.
- GTA Online. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy believes the online mode will arrive at some point in 2027. SVG suggests Rockstar could line it up with the PC port, though it also considers an earlier online launch, to iron out bugs, possible.
- The market. CNET argues that pricier console hardware and a growing PC audience make it harder to leave those players waiting.
On the other side, Zelnick has said Rockstar always starts on console to serve its core audience first. The studio has also tended to delay PC for optimisation reasons and to keep mods out of the launch experience. A change of policy would be a surprise, to say the least.
GTA 6 on PC: what we still don't know
The basics are missing: official confirmation from Rockstar, an exact date, system requirements and storefronts. We also don't know whether the online mode will coincide with the port or arrive before or after it. XboxManiac adds that Rockstar is unlikely to confirm anything before the console launch to protect pre-orders, which is a reasonable guess, not a fact.
In the meantime, you can keep exploring the map, the characters or the latest on the blog. If Rockstar says anything, we will update this piece.
