Will GTA 6 be on Game Pass or PS Plus?

What Take-Two, Microsoft and Sony have actually said, with every fact linked to its source.

    GAME PASS? NOT ANNOUNCED

    PS PLUS? NOT ANNOUNCED

    Fan site · not affiliated

Not announced for either. As of 1 November 2026, GTA 6 isn't in the Game Pass library or its "Coming soon" list, and both PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store sell it at full price (€79.99 for the Standard Edition in Spain). Take-Two has said for years that launching new games straight into a subscription doesn't pay.

Sony announced pre-orders on the PlayStation Blog on 24 June 2026 as a PlayStation Store purchase that comes with a free month of GTA+. GTA+ is Rockstar's own subscription, not PS Plus. The store listing carries no PS Plus label.54

    What has Take-Two said?

Take-Two, Rockstar's parent company, hasn't addressed GTA VI and subscriptions specifically. What its CEO has repeated is the company's stance on new releases:

    • "Our scepticism has been around making frontline console products available day and date with subscription. That doesn't make any sense to us, because economically speaking, we don't think consumers are prepared to pay for that."

Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two CEO · GI Live, May 20226

    • "It can potentially be great for catalogue properties, sales of properties that have been in the market for a while and their price has been reduced."

Strauss Zelnick, same talk · GI Live, May 20226

    • Asked whether Call of Duty launching in Game Pass changed anything for Take-Two: "No, it won't affect our decisions. Because our decisions are rational."

Strauss Zelnick, on Call of Duty in Game Pass · GamesIndustry.biz, August 20247

    • Per GamesBeat, he defended the USD 80 and USD 100 price of the two editions in the US, saying game prices have not kept pace with inflation over the last couple of decades.

Do you need PS Plus or Game Pass to play?

Not for what has been announced. The PlayStation Store listing reads "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience" and is tagged offline play. PS Plus and Game Pass cover online multiplayer, among other things, and GTA VI has no online mode announced.4910

Could it arrive later? What happened with GTA V and RDR2

This is history, not a forecast: nothing has been announced for GTA VI. GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 have come and gone from both catalogs several times, always years after launch.

It hasn't been announced. As of 1 November 2026 it isn't in the Game Pass library or "Coming soon to Game Pass", and Microsoft Store sells the Standard Edition for €79.99 in Spain (USD 79.99 in the US).
    What about PS Plus Extra?
Not announced either. Sony sells it on PlayStation Store as a pre-order, and its 24 June 2026 announcement only mentions a free month of GTA+, which is Rockstar's subscription.
Do I need PS Plus or Game Pass to play GTA 6?
Not for what has been announced: the PlayStation Store listing describes a single-player experience with offline play. Those subscriptions are needed for online multiplayer.
Is GTA+ the same as Game Pass or PS Plus?
No. GTA+ is Rockstar's subscription. A digital pre-order on PlayStation Store before 19 November 2026 includes one month, which then renews at the regular price unless you cancel.
