The Kortz Center Heist is now available for pre-download on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ahead of its July 14 release: the smallest update to GTA Online in years.

GTA 6 still has no official release date, but Rockstar has just dropped a clue that’s hard to ignore: the next GTA Online heist—the smallest in recent years—is now available for pre-download on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ahead of its official release on July 14.

It’s called The Kortz Center Heist and, as confirmed by Rockstar Newswire itself, it arrives on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. (UK time). What’s striking isn’t just the content—it’s how small the file size is, and what that might say about where the studio’s focus lies right now.

Pre-download Now Live: Dates, Times, and File Sizes

Starting this Sunday, July 12, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players can begin pre-downloading the update so it’s ready the moment it launches. The file sizes are tiny compared to what a typical GTA Online heist usually entails:

PlatformPre-download size
PS51.9 GB
Xbox Series XS
PC, PS4, Xbox OneNo pre-download; available on launch day

On PC, the update will arrive on July 14 via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Rockstar Games Launcher. PS4 and Xbox One users won’t have the pre-download option and will have to wait until launch day.

To put this in perspective: Money Fronts was 3 GB, Agents of Sabotage was 6 GB, and Bottom Dollar Bounties was 5.6 GB (all on PS5). The Kortz Center Heist is, by far, the lightest update in years—a routine update, not an ambitious patch.

How the Kortz Center Heist Works

The new heist puts players under the command of Mr. Faber and Raf De Angelis to steal works of art from the Kortz Center museum. Preparation involves surveilling the building, photographing the paintings without arousing suspicion, and planning the escape route, in groups of up to four players who can choose between stealth or a direct assault (stealth, as always, pays better).

Anyone with a mansion can expand it with an Art Studio, where a forger creates copies to replace the stolen items. Each week, three new paintings will appear as secondary objectives: you can sell them for a hefty sum or display them directly in the mansion, giving the heist a longer lifespan than a one-time heist.

The update also introduces the new Grotti Veleno GT supercar, available for free for one week to GTA+ subscribers.

Paintings That Capture 13 Years of the Series

Here’s the real draw for veterans: the stealable artworks aren’t generic art—they’re direct nods to Rockstar’s history. Among the confirmed pieces is a Western-style painting set in Ludendorff, North Dakota (complete with the Ludendorff Castor, for those who remember that heist from GTA IV), as well as references to Red Dead Redemption, GTA V, and even historical glitches from GTA Online itself. Among the hidden faces are CJ, Dutch, Lester, Chop, aliens, and zombies.

“A selection of the paintings that can be stolen in the Kortz Center Heist, all featuring references to Rockstar Games titles,” the GTA Series Videos account described when showcasing the first of these works, the painting of the Ludendorff Church.

This isn’t the first time Rockstar has included Easter eggs in a heist, but it rarely does so with the intention of covering the ENTIRE catalog, title by title.

Why This Smells Like a Countdown to GTA VI

Putting the pieces together: a tiny update, with no new systems to maintain in the long term, wrapped up in a tribute to 13 years of the series. Everything points to Rockstar already having the bulk of its team focused on the leap to Leonida and the streets of Vice City, and that GTA Online is entering its farewell phase before the new chapter arrives.

None of this is official, mind you: Rockstar has never said this is the final heist. But the download size is an objective fact, and the facts speak for themselves. To follow the rest of the countdown clues, check out more news and everything confirmed about GTA 6 on the website.

Do you think the Kortz Center Heist is really the last big heist in GTA Online before Leonida, or does Rockstar still have a few surprises up its sleeve?
