GTA 6: Trailer 3 on July 21 or August 7? The Date Showdown

The community has set Tuesday, July 21, as the release date for the third GTA 6 trailer, but an insider points to August: we take a look at the competing theories.
The GTA 6 Trailer 3 is already marked in red all over the internet—the problem is that there are two dates, and they don’t match. Part of the community is pointing to Tuesday, July 21, 2026; leaker Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming insists there won’t be anything until the first week of August. Rockstar, for now, hasn’t said a single official word: this is a battle of theories, not an announcement.
The spark that ignited the speculation: the banner that disappeared
On July 9, Rockstar removed the banner from its website that directed fans to pre-order Grand Theft Auto VI (we reported on it at the time). This isn’t proof on its own, but the move has a precedent: when Rockstar cleans up its website, it’s usually to make room for something new, and several English-language media outlets interpreted the move as the first sign that a trailer is on the way.
This is accompanied by another piece of information that has already been confirmed: the game has a release date set for November 19, 2026. If Rockstar were to follow the pattern it used with Red Dead Redemption II—whose final cinematic trailer arrived about six months before launch—the natural window for a third trailer would fall precisely this summer.
The Tuesday Pattern
This is where the theory gets interesting. The first trailer was leaked hours before its premiere, but its official release was set for a Tuesday, December 5, 2023. The second one arrived right on schedule on another Tuesday, May 6, 2025. Two out of two. And July 21, 2026, also falls on a Tuesday—two days after the World Cup final on Sunday, July 19, which is set to draw the year’s largest global audience in front of their screens. It also aligns with what Take-Two has reiterated in more than one investor call: that the GTA VI marketing campaign will be unlike anything the company has done before, relying on social media and moments of peak global viewership, rather than the industry’s traditional advertising calendar.
Keep in mind, however, that not all media outlets agree on the exact date: GTA BOOM places the window “in mid-July, around the World Cup,” without pinning it down to the 21st specifically; Beebom does back that date, though its own article acknowledges that it relies more on seasonal patterns than on a specific leak.
The Opposing View: August and the Investor Meeting
Tom Henderson has been one of the most reliable leakers regarding Rockstar for months, and his take is the opposite: nothing until the first week of August. The date he points to is no coincidence—it coincides with, or falls on the eve of, Take-Two’s quarterly earnings call, confirmed for Friday, August 7, 2026. A trailer released on the very day the company reports to its investors would give Strauss Zelnick a much juicier headline than simply presenting sales figures.
Two theories, head-to-head
Put into a table, the showdown looks like this:
| July 21 Theory | August Theory | |
|---|---|---|
| Date | Tuesday, July 21 | August 7 (or the day before) |
| Based on | Removed banner + Tuesday pattern + World Cup | Leaker’s track record + earnings call |
| Supported by | Community and media outlets like Beebom | Tom Henderson (Insider Gaming) |
| Confirmed by Rockstar | No | No |
Neither of these theories has been confirmed by Rockstar or Take-Two: they are interpretations of clues, no matter how reliable the sources may be. The only verifiable facts are that the banner disappeared, that the two previous trailers were released on Tuesdays, and that there is a key investor meeting scheduled for August 7. The rest is just a matter of waiting and comparing schedules. Follow the latest news on the blog or check out the rest of the community’s theories in our theories section.
Which date do you think it’ll be: Tuesday, July 21, or the first week of August?
