What animals are in GTA 6? Will you be able to hunt and fish?

Let's start with what many wikis still list as a rumor, even though it's no longer one: hunting and fishing have been confirmed by Rockstar itself. The official description of the Mount Kalaga region (published on their website in May 2025) literally states that it offers “hunting, fishing, and top-notch off-road trails.” This isn’t a leak or a job posting—it’s the game’s official website.

As for wildlife, the official material already lists more than 15 identified species: American alligator, flamingo, bottlenose dolphin, tiger shark, loggerhead sea turtle, brown pelican, manatee, green iguana, seagull, Key deer, wild boar, heron, duck, bat, and two dogs (a miniature pinscher and a Rottweiler).

As for that little dog on the beach that half the internet dubbed a Chihuahua in 2023: the community eventually identified it as a Miniature Pinscher, and it reappears in Trailer 2 in the arms of another of Leonida’s neighbors.

The star animal is the alligator, with two very distinct scenes of its own—one being pulled out of a pool by wildlife control and another strolling through a department store. Everything points to this being a recurring gag in the game, much like the shark in GTA V.

A detail that showcases Rockstar’s attention to detail: Leonida replicates Florida’s wildlife species by species, even including the Key deer—a real, dwarf, endangered subspecies found only in the Florida Keys—which served as the direct inspiration for the game’s Leonida Keys.

There’s another batch of animals where sources don’t agree (raccoon, Florida panther, roseate spoonbill, beaver...) and a long list seen only in the 2022 leak (cows, frogs, opossums, whales...). We’re treating these as pending confirmation.
